Store Credit Program

Overview

As a used bookstore, we believe that every book deserves a second (or third or fourth…) chance to be enjoyed by someone new. In a world full of overconsumption, impulse purchasing, and trend-driven buying behaviors, we want to do our part to mitigate waste. Our Store Credit Program is our way of encouraging mindful consumption habits and rewarding consumers who see the value in secondhand shopping.

How It Works

Starting July 1, we’ll be accepting your used books in exchange for store credit. Please note that if you would like to bring books before our grand opening (Summer 2025, exact date TBD), we’ll need to coordinate a time to meet at the storefront. This can be done via email or Instagram messages. The amount of credit received will be primarily based upon condition:

Preferred Genres

We’re not really picky! We want to maintain a diverse selection of both newer titles and the classics, across all genres. Currently, we have a lot of fantasy, romantasy, contemporary romance, and thrillers. Here are some specific genres we’re actively trying to expand in (we’ll update this page as this changes over time):

How To Receive & Use Your Credit

Credit can ONLY be applied to used books. We cannot offer credit towards other items in the store such as merchandise, handmade goods, or new books that we provide on a pre-order / special order basis.

First, we will need your contact info and name to set up your customer account in our inventory system, if we haven’t already (this is a quick in-person process). We will then review each book by hand, assigning a condition based on the criteria outlined above. Depending on how many books you bring us and staff availability, we may be able to complete this process while you browse the store! Otherwise, we ask for up to 48 hours to complete the review process.

Once we’re finished reviewing, we will email you an itemized breakdown of the value we attributed to each title provided. You have the opportunity to dispute any of our decisions for 24 hours or respond right away to confirm you are OK with our decisions. If we don’t hear from you within the 24-hour window, we will move forward with applying the credit to your account as outlined.

If you rather trust our judgment on credit value, you can always let us know upfront that you want to waive the 24-hour dispute window so we can work on getting that credit applied ASAP! This is the preferred method for individuals who don’t live in the area and have limited opportunities to use their credit.

Any time you shop with us in the future, we’ll be able to see exactly how much credit you have on your account and can easily apply any portion of the balance at checkout. Your credit never expires 🙂
