Meet The Founder
Emma Braden (she/her)
Emma is a lifelong animal lover with a passion for learning. Born and raised in Virginia, she moved to Detroit in March 2021 to be closer to her long-distance partner, Ben. They currently reside near Eastern Market with their three cats.
Zeeba (female orange tabby) and Zeek (male Maine Coon mix) were both adopted from an organization called Cat’s Cradle in Emma’s college town, Harrisonburg, VA in 2014 and 2016. This was Emma’s first exposure to the concept of a community space where patrons could freely interact with adoptable cats. She credits both of her cats’ extremely social personalities to the environment that Cat’s Cradle so thoughtfully curated, offering them positive interactions with humans during the earliest months of their lives.
Upon moving to Detroit, Emma began making connections in the cat rescue space to make friends and get involved in the local community. After several years of planning and researching, she has finally decided to take the leap and open her dream business—a bookstore that also serves as an adoption center for rescue cats.
She has put her heart and soul into creating an experience that is welcoming, relaxing, and ultimately beneficial to her newfound home, the city of Detroit.
